The beneficial properties of the pomelo fruit were discovered not so long ago, because they have known this juicy fruit for only 10 years. Previously, everyone adored the orange – vitamin C in triple equivalent and a pleasant rich peel. I was tempted to eat only the orange balls.
But I still admired the pomelo more: the thick peel, sometimes green or yellow, the segments separated by partitions that taste bitter.
Today you can find the fruit in three types:
red,
white,
and pink.
It all depends on the color of the pulp.
By the way, pomelo is one of the largest citrus fruits; the weight of the largest variety of white pomelo can reach 10 kg!
The birthplace of the fruit is Malaysia and China. It was first mentioned in manuscripts that date back to 100 BC. e. Then the fruit was considered a symbol of well-being and prosperity, but now, in view of this tradition, every Chinese gives it to their guests and neighbors on New Year’s Eve, and also prepares many traditional dishes. In Thailand, pomelo is used as an offering to the Gods, but it was brought to Europe by British sailors only in the 14th century.
The pomelo fruit has many beneficial properties, but the citrus fruit can also cause harm.
